Sunnyside Woodside Lions Cookbook

We put all our heads together and cooked up some great recipes with the help of some special friends. We are also cooking up some great projects for our neighborhood

Please note:  The great diversity of recipes reflect our neighborhood and our membership.  If any neighborhood is a melting pot of people, it is ours!  Look around the neighborhood and discover all our hidden treasures.  We have some great recipes from all over the world, thanks to our neighbors, family, friends and members who were kind enough to share their spe cial recipes with us. 

While we have some great cooks in our club, we know our recipes alone will not get the attention of the general public.  So we enlisted the help of some very special friends.  Listed, in no special order, our fabulous recipe contributors include:  Angie’s Kitchen, Assembly Member Marge Markey, Governor George E. Sunnyside Woodside Lions Club Cookbook Gets Big Endorsement

Luke  Adams sometimes gets confused because he attends to many meeting!  At a recent meeting he believed that the above group came to give their endorsement for the Sunnyside Woodside Lions Cookbook (L to R) Dr. Gail Mellow, President of La Guardia Community College (Chocolate Mousse Custard), Assemblywoman Catherine Nolan (Mrs. Marsicano’s Cookies), Senator Chuck Schumer, Luke with Lions cookbook in hand, Senator Hillary Clinton (Chocolate Chip Cookies), Mayoral Candidate Fernando Ferrer, Councilman Eric Gioia (Peach Cobbler), Councilman David Weprin (Devils Food Cake). After all, most of the Elected Officials had sent  great recipes to the Sunnyside Woodside Lions Club.

Luke later found out they were there to endorse Fernando Ferrer. They posed  for the picture because they found out with the sales of the book, the Lions had a movie party for local children, they gave $500.00 to the Red Cross for the Katrina relief fund and the club sent a donation to a senior program at La Guardia on September 27h. So keep buying those cookbooks, they make great holiday gifts, and the club wants to do a lot more for the neighborhood. PS we also have Governor George E. Pataki’s Beef Stew and Empire Apple Muffins and Senator Serphin Maltese Fastnachts. Almost 350 recipes in all from lot of good people from around the neighborhood.

Lions Treat Kids to Movie – Popcorn and Soda

  The club was able to afford this program because of the cookbook sales of their recent fundraiser. So please accept the Lions Club thanks you if you purchased a cookbook, you also helped send a kid to the movies

Helping the Katrina Victims

Thanks to the cookbook sales, at  the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce luncheon ( L to R) Jimmy Van Bramer, Roel Vanderkooi, Marie Konecko Oliver Szios (Red Cross) Fr. Joseph Jerome and Miguel  Flores were happy and able to donate $500.00 to the Katrina Relief Fund, Keep buying those books.
